Many providers are center-based and offer a minimum of 20-40 hours of therapy a week. One reason being, research has shown that not only is early intervention best, the large number of hours can also have its benefits. This is an appropriate therapy approach for many. However, not one size fits all and unfortunately there is not enough resources out there for:
1. Children who may still benefit from smaller durations of therapy.
2. Parents who want to be more involved and interactive in their child’s therapy.
3. Children without an ASD diagnosis, but who would still benefit from the therapy.
4. Unique settings alternative to the frequently recommended, in-center.
5. Play-based and Child-led ABA Therapy.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy is the science of behavior and learning, applied to real individuals. ABA believes all behavior is communication and Behavior Analysts can help families find out why their child is doing what they are doing, and what they are trying to communicate. At Tag Along, we practice positive reinforcement strategies only, as studies show this is most effective in increasing wanted behaviors.
Tag Along is a focused treatment option, meaning we concentrate on specific skills to develop based on parent and child priorities. Assessments may also be used to collect baseline data and report progress with time. This is to ensure goals are meaningful and time isn’t wasted on non-essential skills.
